ThermoZone™ Attic Insulation Program

ThermoZone™ Attic Insulation Program

Which pests are repelled by Western’s ThermoZone™ Attic Insulation?
In addition to providing superior home insulation, ThermoZone™ provides protection against any kind of crawling insect. From ants and silverfish to roaches, this unique cross-functional product helps keep pests out of your home.

Is ThermoZone™ more effective than other insulation in reducing home energy costs?
Those who keep a close eye on their energy bills will be pleased to learn that ThermoZone™ Attic Insulation, on average, results in a 20%-30% home energy savings. That’s why it received an Energy Star designation.

I have seen insulation being described in terms of its “R-value.” What is R-value, and what should I be looking for?
R-value is a rating system for the effectiveness of insulation in preventing heat transfer. All things being equal, the higher the R-value, the slower heat transfers through the product and the more powerful the product is. When comparing multiple brands of the same kind of insulation, the R-value can guide you in assessing the effectiveness of your various options.

How long does it take to recoup one’s investment in ThermoZone™?
Because of the significant energy reductions made possible with ThermoZone™ Attic Insulation, it takes an average of only four years to recoup your investment.

What makes ThermoZone™ unique? Why is it a better choice than other home insulation products?

  1. Pest control benefits: The unique ability to repel pests is the number one differentiator of this next-generation home insulation product.
  2. Fire prevention: Made with naturally fire-resistant boric acid, ThermoZone™ makes your home safer in the case of a fire by limiting its ability to spread.
  3. Sound absorption: ThermoZone™ Attic Insulation reduces the intrusion of outside noise, helping maintain a peaceful home environment.
  4. Energy savings: ThermoZone™ has been awarded the government’s Energy Star designation. This certifies that it is an approved energy-efficient product proven to deliver 20%-30% energy savings as compared to non-Energy Star products.

Is ThermoZone™ a greener choice than other insulation options?
In addition to delivering unique pest control benefits, ThermoZone™ is made of green materials including natural cellulose insulation & natural borates.

Does Western expect that tax credits for products like ThermoZone™ to extend beyond 2010?
Yes. The federal government continues to support green products that reduce environmental impact, and we expect these tax-advantaged programs to continue into 2011.

How long does it take Western technicians to install the product?
When installing ThermoZone™, Western technicians are typically in and out in just one day.

Skyrocketing energy prices will impact home heating bills this winter – is your home prepared with proper insulation?

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) recently recommended increased R-Value levels for homes nationwide. If your current home insulation is less – or if you're not sure – call Western. Our ThermoZone™ Attic Insulation Program can bring you up to DOE recommendations and provides the following benefits:

  • Saves up to 30% on your energy bills
  • Energy Star
  • A Federal Tax Credit for energy efficiency. For more information, download the energy efficient tax credit form today.
  • Is environmentally friendly because it’s made from recycled newsprint
  • Eliminates self-grooming insects on installation and controls ants, cockroaches, silverfish, termites, and other insects listed on the EPA label
  • Is acceptable for use around humans and pets because the insulation is treated with all-natural boric acid, an EPA-labeled pesticide that has gone through rigorous testing and inspection
  • Is treated to be fire-retardant
  • Reduces noise transmission

Western's Advanced Baiting System includes:

Step 1: Western's Advanced Baiting stations with electronic monitoring devices will be placed in the soil around your home.

Step 2: The stations will be checked regularly and scanned electronically for termite activity.

Step 3: The termites will feed on RecruitTM IV termite bait, tunnel out and send other colony nestmates back to feed on the bait. As they do, the colony starts to decline and will eventually be eliminated.

Step 4: After a colony has been eliminated, the bait will be replaced with new electronic monitoring devices. We will continue to inspect these regularly to detect any new colony that might invade your property.

The Importance of Ongoing Monitoring
A new termite colony can invade at any time. Monitoring stations are placed at precise intervals around your home. They stand guard as the first line of defense. When an inspection of a monitoring station shows termite activity, Western introduces the Advanced Baiting System. Immediately, additional bait stations may be installed near the infested monitor and they are constantly monitored and rebaited until all activity ceases. The stations are then re-converted to monitoring status to continue protecting your home.

Tips for an Energy Efficient Home:
  • Conduct an energy audit. Western offers free energy audits with a ThermoZone™ inspection
  • Re-caulk and weatherstrip doors and windows to prevent air leaks
  • Change the air filters in your furnace to improve air flow
  • Change your incandescent light bulbs to compact fluorescent light bulbs and you can save hundreds in annual energy bills
