All About Norwalk, CT

Set in southern Fairfield County, Norwalk was originally settled in 1649. Roger Ludlow purchased the areas east of the Norwalk River from Chief Mahackemo of the Norwaake (or Naramauke) Indians in 1640. Norwalk was settled in 1649, incorporated September 1651, and named after the Algonquin word noyank, meaning “point of land”, or more probably from the native American name “Naramauke.” The Battle of Norwalk took place during the Revolutionary War and led to the burning of most of the town. In 1836, the borough of Norwalk was created, covering the central area of the town. In 1853, the first ever train disaster in the United States happened over the Norwalk River. During the 19th and early 20th century, Norwalk was a major railroad stop for the New York, New Haven, and Hartford Railroad. The city of South Norwalk and the remaining parts of the town of Norwalk were both combined in 1910 to form the current city.

It’s no secret that Norwalk has a rich history but it’s also a tourist destination. Fall into wonder at the The Maritime Aquarium. Just don’t fall into the tanks. Sharks, seals, jelly fish, and even meerkats are there waiting for you to learn all about them! Visit one of the earliest and most significant Second Empire Style country houses in the United States, The Lockwood Mathews Mansion Museum. Being right on the Long Island Sound, make sure to make your way to the Norwalk Harbor. After all that fun, make sure to have dinner at Sedona Taphouse. The bourbon pork chop and the chuckawalla chicken are not to be missed. Year round, people flock to Norwalk to enjoy everything it has to offer, but unfortunately, so do pests. While these bugs and rodents provide benefits to the eco-system in Norwalk, they can also be a serious problem at homes and businesses. That’s when a professional pest control expert should be called in.

Pest Control Services Near You

Properly controlling pests in Norwalk, CT should be done on a local level. Norwalk’s pest issues are different than Delaware’s and way different than New York City’s. The pest control company you choose should have knowledge and expertise in your town. That’s Western Pest Services. We have been servicing Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware for almost 100 years. That kind of expertise is unmatched in the industry. And with a branch located directly in Norwalk, our technicians, customer services representatives, and everyone else that works at that location lives and works in the area, too. Our neighbors are your neighbors, and we treat them that way.

As the Constitution State, Connecticut is known for having everything from beaches to cities to forests. Norwalk is no exception. Warm, moist summers give way to cold winters, which means over-wintering insects, rodents, and other small wildlife need to find warm places to wait out the cold. The local extermination experts at our Norwalk, CT branch are used to dealing with mice, carpenter ants, bed bugs, termites, mosquitoes, ticks – and even the occasional cheeky raccoon or hiding bat. No matter the season, your pest control service needs will be taken care of by a local exterminator that knows the area and the pests that are common to it. In the summer, they know what that the ponds and birdbaths many people have around their homes can be exactly where mosquitoes like to breed. They know that the ticks that come out during the summer months can transmit Lyme disease so while nobody can help the wood areas around Oyster Shell Park, they can help your backyard stay free from them. In the cooler months, they know mice can try to make their way into your garage – especially if that’s where you keep the 20 lb. bag of dog food! No matter what pest, any time of the year, our pest control treatments in Norwalk can help, including:

  • Bats
  • Bed bugs
  • Pest birds
  • Spotted lanternflies
