All About Conestoga, PA

Conestoga is unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Lancaster County. Conestoga was first called “Conestoga Manor” by William Penn, founder of Pennsylvania. The name was derived from the Conestoga (Susquehannock) people, a peaceful tribe that adopted Christianity. Their principal village in the area was located nearby. In 1763 some 20 Conestoga were massacred by the Paxton Boys, who came across the Alleghenies to raid their settlement in a mistaken retaliation for other warfare. The few survivors fled the area. The town of Conestoga was laid out in 1797, after the American Revolutionary War, by John Kendig, Harry Breneman, Edward Charles, and John Folkman. The area was in the national news in 2001 when President George W. Bush held a photo opportunity at the Safe Harbor power station.

It’s no secret Conestoga has a rich history but it’s also a tourist destination. If you’re there at the right time, make sure to pick your own fruit at the largest in the area, Cherry Hill Orchards & Farm Market. Enjoy a guided tour of one the oldest banks still preserved in its original state at the First National Bank Museum. Don’t miss touring the Turkey Hill Experience. Create your own virtual ice cream flavor, learn how ice cream is made, and get unlimited samples of both their ice cream and their iced tea. But don’t fill up because you’ll want to have dinner at Conestoga Wagon Restaurant where you’ll enjoy good old-fashioned country cookin’. We suggest the onion rings to start. Then indulge in the oyster platter or the roast turkey and filling. Don’t miss the tomato bisque and the brie and crab dip. For dinner, we suggest the blackened prime rib sandwich. Every year, people flock to Conestoga to enjoy everything it has to offer, but unfortunately, so do pests. While these bugs and rodents provide benefits to the eco-system in Conestoga, they can also be a serious problem at homes and businesses. That’s when a professional pest control expert should be called in.

Pest Control Services Near You

Properly controlling pests in Conestoga, PA should be done on a local level. Conestoga’s pest issues are different than New Jersey’s and way different than New York City’s. The pest control company you choose should have knowledge and expertise in your town. That’s Western Pest Services. We have been servicing New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, and Pennsylvania for almost 100 years. That kind of expertise is unmatched in the industry. And with a branch located in nearby Lititz, our technicians, customer services representatives, and everyone else that works at that location lives and works in the area, too. Our neighbors are your neighbors, and we treat them that way.

As the Keystone State, Pennsylvania is known for its forests, farms, trails, and abundance of greenery and lush vegetation. Conestoga is no exception. Warm, moist summers give way to cold winters, which means over-wintering insects, rodents, and other small wildlife need to find warm places to wait out the cold. The local extermination experts at our Lititz, PA branch are used to dealing with mice, carpenter ants, bed bugs, termites, mosquitoes, ticks – and even the occasional cheeky raccoon or hiding bat. No matter the season, your pest control service needs will be taken care of by a local exterminator that knows the area and the pests that are common to it. In the summer, they know what that the ponds and birdbaths many people have around their homes can be exactly where mosquitoes like to breed. They know that the ticks that come out during the summer months can transmit Lyme disease so while nobody can help the wooded areas around Silver Mine Park, they can help your backyard stay free from them. In the cooler months, they know mice can try to make their way into your garage – especially if that’s where you keep the 20 lb. dog food bag! No matter what pest, any time of the year, our pest control treatments in Conestoga can help, including:

  • Bats
  • Bed bugs
  • Pest birds
  • Spotted lanternflies
