All About Catasauqua, PA

A borough inside Lehigh County, Catasauqua (referred to colloquially as Catty), was first settled in 1805 and chartered as a borough in 1853. George Taylor, signer of the Declaration of Independence, built a Georgian stone house in 1768 in what is now the borough of Catasauqua. The George Taylor House has been named a National Historic Landmark, a showpiece of the community’s rich historical heritage. In 1839, Catasauqua was the location of the first manufactured anthracite iron in the nation. In 1840, the anthracite iron industry was founded in what is now known as Catasauqua, originally Biery’s Port, making it a birthplace of the Industrial Revolution in the United States. Welsh immigrant David Thomas relocated to the area and opened the Crane Iron Works. Remembered as “the father of Catasauqua,” Thomas initially named the community Craneville after his former employer in Wales.

Catasauqua is home to a host of natural and rural attractions. You may be surprised at the vineyards you will find in the Lehigh Valley. Take a Renegade Wine Tour to find out! Take in an IronPigs game at Coca-Cola Park. Take a tubing trip down the Delaware River with Twin Rivers Tubing. Even if you don’t book a tubing trip, read the “we cannot control” section on their home page. Funny but also – really people? After tubing and being very nice to the staff because they cannot control the river or the weather, sit down for a nice, relaxing meal at Catty Corner Neighborhood Pub & Pie. Their pies include pickle, cheesesteak, and chicken and waffle. Color us interested. Every year, people flock to Catasauqua to enjoy everything it has to offer, but unfortunately, so do pests. While these bugs and rodents provide benefits to the eco-system in Catasauqua, they can also be a serious problem at homes and businesses. That’s when a professional pest control expert should be called in.

Pest Control Services Near You

Properly controlling pests in Catasauqua, PA should be done on a local level. Catasauqua’s pest issues are different than New Jersey’s and way different than New York City’s. The pest control company you choose should have knowledge and expertise in your town. That’s Western Pest Services. We have been servicing New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, and Pennsylvania for almost 100 years. That kind of expertise is unmatched in the industry. And with a branch located in the Lehigh Valley, our technicians, customer services representatives, and everyone else that works at that location lives and works in the area, too. Our neighbors are your neighbors, and we treat them that way.

As the Keystone State, Pennsylvania is known for its forests, farms, trails, and abundance of greenery and lush vegetation. Catasauqua is no exception. Warm, moist summers give way to cold winters, which means over-wintering insects, rodents, and other small wildlife need to find warm places to wait out the cold. The local extermination experts at our branch in Lehigh Valley are used to dealing with mice, carpenter ants, bed bugs, termites, mosquitoes, ticks – and even the occasional cheeky raccoon or hiding bat. No matter the season, your pest control service needs will be taken care of by a local exterminator that knows the area and the pests that are common to it. In the summer, they know what that the ponds and birdbaths many people have around their homes can be exactly where mosquitoes like to breed. They know that the ticks that come out during the summer months can transmit Lyme disease so while nobody can help the wooded areas around Candy Can Park, they can help your backyard stay free from them. In the cooler months, they know mice can try to make their way into your garage – especially if that’s where you keep the 20 lb. dog food bag! No matter what pest, any time of the year, our pest control treatments in Catasauqua can help, including:

  • Bats
  • Bed bugs
  • Pest birds
  • Spotted lanternflies
  • Ticks
  • Ants
  • Carpenter ants
