All About Springfield, PA

Springfield Township, or simply Springfield, is a township in Delaware County. First settled by Quakers who arrived in Pennsylvania with William Penn, Springfield was first recognized as a governmental entity in 1686. Many of the streets in Springfield are named after former prominent citizens, including Powell, Kennerly, Lownes, Levis, Maris, Thomas, Beatty, Lewis, Foulke, Evans, Powell, Pancoast, Worrell, and Edge. Originally, Springfield was primarily a farming town. On December 9, 1687, the settlers began laying the road to Amosland as it was then called. This road is now known as Springfield Road. In 1701 construction began on the Baltimore Pike; the road was formed of sturdy oak planks, some of which still exist under the current Baltimore Pike. 1701 also marked the year that construction began on the first Quaker meeting house. The meeting house burned in 1737 and was rebuilt. The current meeting house that stands in its spot was constructed in 1851.

It’s no secret Springfield has a rich history but it’s also a tourist destination. Spend the day visiting capybaras, black and white ruffled lemurs, red pandas, green tree pythons, and many other animals at the Brandywine Zoo. Make sure your camera is charged as you walk the beautiful grounds of the Tyler Arboretum. Take a tour at the Turkey Hill Experience. Create your own virtual ice cream flavor, learn how ice cream is made, and get unlimited samples of both their ice cream and their iced tea. But don’t fill up because you’ll want to have dinner at Cascata Caffé. This quaint little BYOB serves up delicious and authentic Italian cuisine that will make everyone’s stomach happy. Every year, people flock to Springfield to enjoy everything it has to offer, but unfortunately, so do pests. While these bugs and rodents provide benefits to the eco-system in Springfield, they can also be a serious problem at homes and businesses. That’s when a professional pest control expert should be called in.

Pest Control Services Near You

Properly controlling pests in Springfield, PA should be done on a local level. Springfield’s pest issues are different than New York’s and way different than New Jersey’s. The pest control company you choose should have knowledge and expertise in your town. That’s Western Pest Services. We have been servicing New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, and Pennsylvania for almost 100 years. That kind of expertise is unmatched in the industry. And with a branch located in nearby Newtown Square, our technicians, customer services representatives, and everyone else that works at that location lives and works in the area, too. Our neighbors are your neighbors, and we treat them that way.

As the Keystone State, Pennsylvania is known for its forests, farms, trails, and abundance of greenery and lush vegetation. Springfield is no exception. Warm, moist summers give way to cold winters, which means over-wintering insects, rodents, and other small wildlife need to find warm places to wait out the cold. The local extermination experts at our Newtown Square branch are used to dealing with mice, carpenter ants, bed bugs, termites, mosquitoes, ticks – and even the occasional cheeky raccoon or hiding bat. No matter the season, your pest control service needs will be taken care of by a local exterminator that knows the area and the pests that are common to it. In the summer, they know what that the ponds and birdbaths many people have around their homes can be exactly where mosquitoes like to breed. They know that the ticks that come out during the summer months can transmit Lyme disease so while nobody can help the wooded areas around Smedley Park, they can help your backyard stay free from them. In the cooler months, they know mice can try to make their way into your garage – especially if that’s where you keep the 20 lb. dog food bag! No matter what pest, any time of the year, our pest control treatments in Springfield can help, including:

  • Bats
  • Bed bugs
  • Pest birds
  • Spotted lanternflies
  • Ants
  • Carpenter ants
