All About Kutztown, PA

Kutztown (Pennsylvania German: Kutzeschteddel) is a borough in Berks County. It is located 18 miles southwest of Allentown and 17 miles northeast of Reading. Kutztown was incorporated as a borough on April 7, 1815 and is the second oldest borough in Berks County after Reading. George (Coots) Kutz purchased 130 acres of land that became Kutztown on June 16, 1755, from Peter Wentz who owned much of what is now Maxatawny Township. Kutz first laid out his plans for the town in 1779. The first lots in the new town of Cootstown (later renamed Kutztown) were purchased in 1785 by Adam Dietrich and Henry Schweier. As with the rest of Berks County, Kutztown was settled mainly by Germans, most of whom came from the Palatinate region of southwest Germany, which borders the Rhine River. Since 1950 the Kutztown Folk Festival has been held in early July celebrating the culture, artistry, and culinary delights of the Pennsylvania Dutch.

Kutztown is home to a host of natural and rural attractions. Take a tour and do some wine tasting at Blue Mountain Vineyards & Cellars. Take a tubing trip down the Delaware River with Twin Rivers Tubing. Even if you don’t book a tubing trip, read the “we cannot control” section on their home page. Funny but also – really people? After tubing and being very nice to the staff because they cannot control the river or the weather, have some dinner at the Basin Street Hotel Restaurant & Pub. Established circa 1876, the beauty of the building is reason enough to go but stay for the good food and good cheer they promise. Also, for the award-winning wings. Every year, people flock to Kutztown to enjoy everything it has to offer, but unfortunately, so do pests. While these bugs and rodents provide benefits to the eco-system in Kutztown, they can also be a serious problem at homes and businesses. That’s when a professional pest control expert should be called in.

Pest Control Services Near You

Properly controlling pests in Kutztown, PA should be done on a local level. Kutztown’s pest issues are different than New Jersey’s and way different than New York City’s. The pest control company you choose should have knowledge and expertise in your town. That’s Western Pest Services. We have been servicing New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, and Pennsylvania for almost 100 years. That kind of expertise is unmatched in the industry. Our neighbors are your neighbors, and we treat them that way.

As the Keystone State, Pennsylvania is known for its forests, farms, trails, and abundance of greenery and lush vegetation. Kutztown is no exception. Warm, moist summers give way to cold winters, which means over-wintering insects, rodents, and other small wildlife need to find warm places to wait out the cold. The local extermination experts at our Spring House, PA branch are used to dealing with mice, carpenter ants, bed bugs, termites, mosquitoes, ticks – and even the occasional cheeky raccoon or hiding bat. No matter the season, your pest control service needs will be taken care of by a local exterminator that knows the area and the pests that are common to it. In the summer, they know what that the ponds and birdbaths many people have around their homes can be exactly where mosquitoes like to breed. They know that the ticks that come out during the summer months can transmit Lyme disease so while nobody can help the wooded areas around North Park, they can help your backyard stay free from them. In the cooler months, they know mice can try to make their way into your garage – especially if that’s where you keep the 20 lb. dog food bag! No matter what pest, any time of the year, our pest control treatments in Kutztown can help, including:

  • Bats
  • Bed bugs
  • Pest birds
  • Spotted lanternflies
  • Ticks
